Tom’s Legacy
Tom Bujnowski was the ultimate Cubs Fan. A gifted schoolteacher, coach, and mentor, Tom always vigorously shared his love of the Cubs with his students, friends, his own children, and anyone who’d listen. Tom started bringing the “K” signs to the bleachers at Wrigley in May of 1998 on the day Kerry Wood pitched his 20-strikeout game. From then on he would bring his son’s baseball teams, teams he coached, or any kid who had never been to a Cubs game to help hold the signs. Following Tom’s death in 2007, we decided to continue his K’s for Kids Club, his dream of being able to take underprivileged kids to Cubs games.
Since 2008, we have brought 40-50 deserving kids each year from around the Chicago area to a Chicago Cubs game. In 2011, we treated two separate groups of 50 kids to a Cubs game, one of those games was courtesy of Chicago Cub Ryan Dempster!
